Max Lagacé

For nearly 30 years, I’ve worked as a designer and provided architectural services to some of Canada’s most influential developers and builders, as well as individual homeowners.

I’ve collaborated on thousands of projects, including planned communities, as well as a wide range of residential and commercial buildings. After all these years, my favourite type of work remains residential projects, and those, therefore, are the main focus of my practice.

I believe in a collaborative approach to design. I listen more than I speak. Establishing a good working relationship with my clients is very important. I take the time to understand your specific needs, and strive to find the best possible solution to meet all your objectives.

My approach to design is to look for solutions that are simple, creative and practical. I like to incorporate strong architectural elements and details. I value aesthetics that incorporate balanced proportions, harmonious use of materials and colours.

The context of the site is very important, whether it’s part of an existing neighbourhood or located in a sparsely developed area. A building should be designed with the surrounding landscape in mind.

For a time in my career, I worked as a real estate broker. The experience has helped me value designs that make sense, and also gain an appreciation of what drives property value, and making sure that future resale potential is not compromised by lofty ideas. This is how I’ve earned a reputation for my no-nonsense approach to design.

Now that I’m living in Nova Scotia, I bring my design expertise to the east coast, while continuing to service my Ontario clients remotely.
